11 days to go .... 7 of them working days
Here we are its nearly time and I for one am more excited than i probably should be. At my age its supposed to be a chore, a nightmare, an expense i dont need BUT i still love the magic of Christmas.
Working in retail at Christmas is both a blessing and a curse and the same goes for online stores but we dont get the interaction the same. When we had the shop chestergate Wood Supplies we had merry conversations with customers, even tradesmen smiled a little at the thought of some time off. But when your solely selling online we dont get the merryment of conversation its a very different vibe we cant ask the "doing anything nice for Christmas" standard questions so festive spirit is provided by our little workforce alone.
Here the countdown is on we have established what days suppliers and couriers are working to, we know that we can still get orders to customers before the Bigman arrives and this makes us happy. We are working like elves in our workshop slightly giddy with each Christmas song the radio plays. We havent yet been too effected by the Royal Mail strikes or couriers busy period so finger crossed for smooth sailing until we finish on the 23rd.
As well as all the work I am also on personal countdown so little notes of shopping lists are scattered on the desk. The kids Christmas plays at school mean some staff shuffles and we are working to a deadline of 2pm next Friday when the schools break up ... talk about merging work and personal lives. Our stock room contains stashes of toys hidden from kids and deliveries inwards are more of a personal affair than a business one.
So with 11 days to go and only 7 of them working days I can inform you that you have until Monday 19th to place orders with us and still recieve them before Christmas eve.If you need that extra temporary table top to seat family we have a melamine board for that, Christmas buffet centre piece we have a donut wall for that or niggly little DIY job needing doing before the family descend on you we have the bits for that.
It only leaves me left to say that we wish you all the very best Christmas and New Year however you choose to spend the festive period may it be full of love and happiness.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Mike, Claire and Tracey
