Van to Campervan conversion ... to DIY or not ??
So this is a little bit of a personal interest which im sharing almost blindly with you guys.
Inspired by a friend of mine who has done the same my partner and I have dipped into looking into creating our own little mobile home on a budget by ourselves. The time has come that we are getting a bit outdoorsy and would like to see more than just the pubs of the places we visit and a campervan seems to be the perfect little answer to get out and about more at our leisure.
Money is certainly not no object and time is limited with work etc so this project will be a longer process and done as cost effectively as we can make it...
Where to start ...
Im not going to tell you that i have a single clue about vans being long or short wheel based etc BUT i do know a little something about sheet materials and while hubby can excitedly take over on the actual van part of the campervan I can add something to the planning of the camping side... ie) living area.
Working where I do (here at Gate obvs) I have inside knowledge and a cutting service at my fingertips so can fully plan the lining of the said van ( once bought ). Our range of plywood is the perfect material to line out the back of the van creating a living space ideal for the worst of campers.. yes im more of a glamper than camper !!
Not only do we have the plywood for the lining but Melamine boards are the ideal material for making your bespoke cabinets ensuring best use of all available space. Melamine is available in many colours, can be cut to any size and is a strong durable board that is used for furniture of all kinds. You could literally design the most compact but cosy living space and have a real home from home feel.
The pictures are ideas of what can be done and it can be done by you none of it is professional tradesman worthy especially since we can provide and cut the sheet materials to your exact sizes. We also supply hardware so the likes of your handles, hinges etc can all be bought to suit at the same time.
Dream or Plan...
So as I sit here inspiring all of you Im yet to turn our dream into a reality but with all the resources I do have to hand it seems a shame to not at least give it a go for Next Year.
And lets face it with the cost of living growing daily and holidays getting more and more expensive the initial cost soon recovers itself on whats being saved going abroad, Haven sites or hotels.
